Hospitals We Service

What We Do

The Red Devils funds treatment support services to reduce or eliminate the obstacles facing patients when deciding to enter or remain in life-saving treatment. Access to funded assistance through The Red Devils is coordinated through one of the 46 hospitals in our network, listed below.

If you are in need of assistance and are being treated at a hospital below, please contact us at 1.877.643.0202 or click here to send us an email inquiry. We will tell you who to contact at the hospital.

Our Services

Patients are eligible for services if they live or are being treated in Maryland and are referred by participating hospitals and breast centers. Recipients of services are identified by social workers and support staff at these facilities. We have established relationships with these groups because they work closely with patients and are in the best position to determine who will benefit most from these services.

We have established relationships with local businesses to provide transportation, meals and house cleaning services. By working with these service providers and our participating hospitals and breast centers, we are able to help ease the burden of this disease for some of those in need.

How You Can Help

Help ensure that these beneficial services are available to those who need them:

Make a contribution
Attend one of our many Community Events held around the state throughout the year
• Become a volunteer and offer any special services you can provide

Why Should I Give?

Every dollar donated stays here in Maryland and makes an immediate impact on a local breast cancer family. Without the treatment support you make possible, many patients choose to delay or refuse treatment because of they cannot afford it or they are without a safety net to assist with their other day-to-day responsibilities.

Our Name

Our name, The Red Devils, was inspired by Katherine Russell Rich, the author of The Red Devil, To Hell with Cancer and Back—a window into the heart of another young woman whose struggle with breast cancer is marked by courage, grace and humor. “Red devil” is a common name for chemotherapy drugs known to many breast cancer survivors for the brilliant red color.

We are a Maryland charitable organization inspired by the courage, grace and humor of two young women, Jessica Cowling and Ginny Schardt, who refused to be defined by their disease.

Jessica died in July 2002 and Ginny in August 2002 at the far too young ages of 31 and 44. Ginny and Jessica were surrounded by families and friends who loved and supported them every step of their journey. They loved and supported each other. Others may not be so fortunate.
